Fort Lee’s Spring Cleanup will be conducted April 30 - May 4 to establish, maintain and enhance the community by creating a clean and sanitary installation and affording Soldiers, Family Members, and Civilians a healthy working, living, and training environment.
Yard waste will now be accepted and collected as recyclable material. Yard waste consists of grass clippings, leaves, pine straw, gum balls (from gum trees), pine cones and shrub clippings.
Yard waste must remain free of trash including paper, plastic, cans, dirt and rocks.
In order for it to be properly handled, all yard waste must be bagged in clear plastic bags and placed at the curb for collection. Yard waste should not be placed loose in recycle containers or trash containers.
Use care not to overload bags. Bags in excess of 50 – 75 pounds should be double or triple bagged to prevent breaking and/or tearing of bags. Do not place rocks or dirt in bags.
Limbs and branches should be no more than four feet long and stacked neatly at the curb. Sticks, branches and limbs are to be kept separate from yard waste.
Occupants are also encouraged to bring yard waste to the Recycle Center located behind building 7104 off Quartermaster Road. The center now has a container designated for the collection of yard waste.
