The Bizarre Bazaar

The annual Bizarre Bazaar held at the Richmond Raceway Complex offers more than 500 exhibitors selling holiday decorations, gifts, gourmet food items, handmade and imported items, toys, crafts, fine arts, antiques, reproduction and hand-painted furniture, books, decorative accessories and so much more.

Old Fashion Xmas at Maymont

If it’s an old-fashioned Christmas you are looking for, then look no further. Christmas at Maymont offers the experience of yesteryear. Victorian ladies and gentlemen graciously welcome guests into the Dooley’s home to marvel at the grand Christmas tree and the beautifully decorated formal rooms, to see the gifts and games of 1893.

Participants can take a horse-drawn carriage ride, visit with St. Nick, enjoy good food, drink, festive music, a roaring bonfire and special activities certain to fill them with the holiday spirit.

Miracle of Christmas

A live Nativity pageant is an unique event that has something for the entire family. One such event is at the Metro Richmond Zoo, 8300 Beaver Bridge Road, Chesterfield. This live re-enactment of the Christmas Story features animals.

The 20-minute pageant will be presented three times each evening. Living music before and after each pageant will be provided by local churches and performing arts groups.

Nightly schedule: Dec. 21, 22 and 23 at 7 p.m., 7:45 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

Dec. 23 only: 9 p.m. in Spanish.

This is an outdoor event, so, be certain to dress appropriately. The zoo (animal exhibits and gift shop) will be closed at 4 p.m. during pageant dates. Gates will reopen at 6:15 p.m. for the program.

Be sure to allow plenty of time for parking. Overflow parking is at Grange Hall Elementary School with a free shuttle service to the zoo.
