Discounted women’s basketball tickets

The Texas Longhorns women’s basketball team hosts the Texas Tech Red Raiders Feb. 24, 3 p.m. at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin.

Tickets are available to military personnel and their families at the discounted rate of $4 per seat. This offer is good for all active and retired military personnel.

Winter golf

Even though the weather has cooled off, there is no need to pack up the clubs this winter.

Now is a great opportunity to drive out to the Courses of Clear Creek for winter unlimited golf. Now through Feb. 28, tee off at noon and play until the sun goes down for one low price.

Active-duty Soldiers, reservists, retirees, National Guard Soldiers and family members can play for $19 and the general public can play for $21. This price also includes the use of a cart. Men’s soccer

The Killeen United men’s division one soccer team is looking for players for the winter league.

Fort Hood rugby

The Fort Hood Rugby Football Club is conducting practice at 7 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays on the old softball field next to Sports USA on Battalion Avenue.

No experience is necessary. The team is now playing and training with the Austin Huns Rugby Club. Women are also encouraged to participate and play with the Austin Valkyries Womens Rugby Club.

Soccer players wanted

Adults of all skill levels are invited to participate in open play soccer. Games are held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and at 9:30 a.m. Saturdays at the PT field next to the A&W on the east side of Fort Hood.

Family Readiness Groups, clubs and units wanting to raise some money can use the Courses of Clear Creek and have a golf tournament fund-raiser.

Groups have been known to raise more than $1,000 with just one morning or afternoon of work.

Mountain biking

The Fort Hood Trailblazers Mountain Bike Club provides, operates and maintains trails where members and the public may enjoy the sport.

The trail system is designed to accommodate riders of all skill and endurance levels from the first-timer to the advanced racer.

There are several loops ranging from four to 14 miles containing designated, marked trails for novice, intermediate, and advanced riders.

There is also a short and easy trail designed just for children.

Rental bikes are available for active duty, military retirees, their families and DoD employees 18 years old and older.

Classes are held from 8-9 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at Abrams Pool located at 62nd Street and Support Avenue.

Fishing on Fort Hood

The Department of Public Works Natural Resources Branch in coordination with Texas Parks and Wildlife stock the lakes and ponds on Fort Hood. Certain ponds in the summer are stocked with catfish.

The most heavily stocked lakes are Cantonment A and Cantonment B.

Cantonment A is located off of Clark Road and Cantonment B is across from Central Texas College.

Fishing Requirements for Fort Hood lakes include: a Texas state fishing license, which is available at the Sportsmen's center; an area access card, which is available in the Sportsmen's Center Pro Shop; and a Fort Hood fishing permit, which costs $1 and is available at the Sportsmen's Center
