The Fort Lee team is an Amateur Athletic Union basketball team, in their first year in existence, and excited to represent the post for many seasons to come, according to team coaches. The All Stars are coached by Tiwan Jarrett and assistant coach Lloyd Clarke, who have guided their talented team in nationwide competition - playing teams from Georgia and North Carolina, to Maryland and New Jersey.
“The competition and athletic talent our boys have been up against has been very impressive,” said Jarrett. “To see our boys playing this level of basketball at such a young age is remarkable.”
All nine players on the Lee All Star team are dependants of Active-Duty Soldiers stationed at Fort Lee. The coaches said that the team has been motivated and resilient as they adjust to the high level of basketball. Winning the championship in Hampton was a great experience for the team and parents, since the organization is new to the AAU arena, said Jarrett.
“That win felt good, and I’m looking forward to our next season,” said Jarrett.
The Lee All Stars will be adding team members, between the ages of 9-12, to their organization.
