Navy Chief Hospital Corpsman Philip Dukette adds a rank insignia to Sgt. 1st Class Eric Kenney’s uniform – making him an honorary member of the Chief Petty Officers Mess – during a ceremony aboard the Navy hospital ship USNS Comfort Sept. 13. The Kenner Army Health Clinic NCO is voluntarily participating in a five-month deployment for U.S. Southern Command’s Enduring Promise operation, in which military personnel are performing humanitarian and partner-building functions in Central and South America and the Caribbean. While serving with his Navy counterparts, Kenney was given the opportunity to take part in the six-week “Initiation Season,” which involved various teambuilding activities, community service projects and Navy tradition knowledge tests. As a result of successful completion, he has formed strong bonds with his sea service brothers and sisters.
