Awarding Excellence in Retention Efforts

In keeping with installation’s focus on retention and awarding those responsible for exceeding standards, both the 23rd Quartermaster Brigade and the U.S. Army Quartermaster Center and School held two functions recognizing retention achievements for the past fiscal year.

Col. Paul Fortune, 23rd QM Bde. commander, and Command Sgt. Maj. Carlton Branch, brigade command sergeant major, held a breakfast for brigade retention noncommissioned officers March 16. The brigade earned the Training and Doctrine Command’s Top Brigade Award for fiscal year 2006.

Brig. Gen. Mark A. Bellini, QMC&S commanding general, congratulated both QMC&S and 23rd QM Bde. retention NCOs and senior leaders Monday at a luncheon.

Sgt. 1st Class Sonja Elzy, Sgt. 1st Class Aaron Williamson and Staff Sgt. Martin Thompson received certificates of achievement for their efforts as retention NCOs for their respective battalions. The 262nd QM Battalion, HHC, 23rd Qm Bde. and the NCO Academy also received certificates of appreciation. The 244th QM Bn. received an Early Bird Retention Excellence Award, and 266th QM Bn. received a Retention Excellence Award for Highest Percentage.

Sgt. 1st Class Armour Taylor, post retention office, said that currently for FY07, the QMC&S, 23rd QM Bde. and garrision units are above the halfway mark and doing well in retention efforts. Over the past few weeks, 17 re-enlistments have been conducted between QMC&S and garrison units.
