CWF Announces Assortment of Adventures
The Fort Lee Civilian Welfare Fund is partnering with the Family and MWR Directorate here to offer free or partially paid trips and events for DOD Civilian employees.
Eligible workforce members can take part in the following free events hosted by Outdoor Recreation: Biking in Battlefield Park, set for Aug. 11 and 25, 5:15 p.m.; and Pontoon River Cruises on the Appomattox River, scheduled for Aug. 15 and 29. Border Patrol Recruitment Webinar Set for Aug. 6
U.S. Customs and Border Protection will host a border patrol agent recruiting webinar for transitioning military members and veterans Aug. 6, 4-5 p.m.
Presenters will provide an overview of positions and the application and hiring process. Time will be allotted for questions at the end of the webinar.

Community Invited to Women’s Equality Event
The installation’s 2019 Women’s Equality Day observance – marking the 99th anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment, Women’s Right to Vote – is set for Aug. 15, 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., at the Lee Theater. The Fort Lee community is invited to participate in the program.
The theme is “Celebrating Women’s Right to Vote, Expanding Opportunities for All.” The guest speaker will be Command Sgt. Maj. Tomeka N. O’Neal, senior enlisted advisor for the Defense Commissary Agency here. The program also will include a video of female senior leaders on Fort Lee. Soldiers will recite the poem “I’m a Suffragette” and perform a women’s march reenactment.

Next pre-retirement seminar planned for Aug. 30
A pre-retirement seminar for military members who are within 12-24 months of separation from service will be held Aug. 30, 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m., in the Soldier Support Center auditorium, building 3400, 1401 B Ave.
The free program will cover a variety of post-military-career topics including veteran benefits, entitlements, health care and more. Spouses of separating military members are welcome.

Registration Open for Homebuyer’s Course
Registration is open for a free First Time Homebuyers Workshop set for Oct. 10, 8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m., at the Terence J. Hildner Training Support Center, building 1111, First Street.
Participants will learn about personal finance, credit issues, qualifying and applying for a loan, how to receive a first-time homebuyer’s closing grant and more. The workshop is open to active duty military and spouses, reserve, National Guard, veterans, DOD Civilians and their spouses.
