Commissary Announces Holiday Hours

To accommodate authorized patron shopping needs over the holidays, the Fort Lee Commissary has scheduled special hours.

The facility will be open the following days and times: Dec. 23, 7:30 a.m. - 8 p.m.; Dec. 24, Christmas Eve, 7:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.; Dec. 30, 7:30 a.m. - 8 p.m.; and Dec. 31, New Year’s Eve, 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. The facility will be closed Dec. 25, Christmas Day; and Jan. 1, New Year’s Day.

The commissary staff wishes all Fort Lee community members a happy holiday.

 

Art/Essay Contest Recognizes Military Kids, Families

The Armed Services YMCA is accepting submissions through March 15 for its 2020 Art and Essay Contest.

Co-sponsored by GEICO Military, the competition is open to youths, grades 1-12, of active duty or retired members of the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard and National Guard/Reserves. Winners will be announced in April. The art contest is geared toward children in grades 1-6, and the essay contest is open to all grade-school levels.

Kenner Facilities Adjust Hours for Holidays

Kenner Army Health Clinic will close Dec. 19, noon - 2 p.m., for staff holiday luncheons. Additional closures are planned for Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. Troop Medical Clinic 1 will be closed for the duration of the holiday block leave period, Dec. 20 - Jan. 3. The active duty clinic and TMC2 will support advanced individual training troops on those dates on a walk-in basis, 6 a.m. - 2 p.m. For details, call 804-734-9057.

Beneficiaries needing after-hours care or authorization to visit an urgent care center should call the nurse advice line at 1-800-TRICARE and choose option 1. This also is the number for assistance during vacation travel. For emergency medical help, dial 9-1-1 or go to the nearest health facility that offers that service.

 

Post Office Closed Until Jan. 2

The U.S. Post Office on Fort Lee is closed until Jan. 2 for unanticipated critical maintenance.

Customers with a P.O. box at the Mahone Avenue facility can retrieve their mail from a temporary location at 300 A Ave., weekdays, 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. This is the former UPS store location adjacent to Starbucks in the Main PX. The temporary location is for P.O. box customer pickup only. Outbound mail/shipping services, stamps and shipping materials are not available.

Patrons can send mail and packages at the Prince George Post Office, 6605 Courthouse Road. Hour of operation are Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m., and Saturday, 9:30-11:30 a.m. Petersburg Main P.O. is at 29 Franklin St., and operates Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. - noon. Customers also can visit www.usps.com for other shipping and service options.

Library Operates 3 Drop-Box Locations

The Fort Lee Community Library staff reminds Team Lee members of its three convenient drop-box locations.

One is located at the main entrance of the Army Logistics University, across from the IHG lodging facility on 34th Street. Another one is on the 2nd floor of ALU – to the right of the entrance to the library. The third is a drive-up location at the back entrance to Bunker Hall, building 12500, Quarters Road.
