Exchange Announces 124th Birthday Deals

In honor of its 124th anniversary on July 25, the Army and Air Force Exchange Service is offering a number of discounts this month.

A free 16-ounce coffee is available July 25 at Express locations and a $1.24 savings will be given on combo meals at participating Exchange restaurants. From July 19-25, up to 50-percent savings will be applied to select home goods. Authorized shoppers are encouraged to visit the main stores and shoppettes for additional deals.

Kenner Back-to-School Clinic Set for July 27

Wilkerson Pediatric Clinic has arranged a special session for school physicals, by appointment only, July 27, 7:20-11 a.m.

No other types of exams will be offered (Headstart, CYS, daycare, etc.). Parents should bring immunization records, medical documentation (unless it is already part of their child’s records kept at Kenner) and eyeglasses, if applicable.

From Aug. 15 - Sept. 15, special KAHC back-to-school clinics will be available on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4-5:30 p.m. Parents are encouraged to complete exams as soon as possible to avoid the last-minute, end-of-August rush. Virginia Sets Age Limit for Tobacco Purchase

A new Virginia law effective July 1 prohibits the sale of tobacco, alternative nicotine or nicotine vapor products to persons under 21 years of age except for active duty military members.

This includes cigarettes, cigars, bidis, smokeless tobacco, wrapping papers, electronic cigarettes and alternative nicotine products. Service members under 21 should show their CAC if requested when purchasing these products.

Registration open for Joint Leadership Symposium

The Sea Service Leadership Association will host its 32nd Annual Joint Women’s Leadership Symposium Aug. 22-23 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, Washington, D.C.

CIF to Conduct Annual Inventory

The Central Issue Facility and Supply Support Activity will be closed to conduct a 100-percent inventory Aug. 19-23.

Customers are asked to complete all immediate-need transactions prior to the closure. Normal operations will resume Aug. 26. Volunteers Needed for School Painting Project

Petersburg City Public Schools is seeking volunteers for a community project to paint Walnut Hill Elementary School through Aug. 9.

All are welcome to help during two-hour shifts, scheduled between 7 a.m. - 6 p.m., Mondays-Thursdays. All supplies are provided. The goal is to make students and teachers proud of their school.
