Deadline Tomorrow for Traveller Grad Tribute

The deadline is tomorrow, May 15, to send submissions to the Traveller for its special presentation recognizing Team Lee’s high school graduates.

Each graduate’s photo with their name, high school, and who their parents are and how they are connected to Fort Lee will be published in the May 28 edition. A current, copyright-free, head-and-shoulders photograph of the student is requested. Also provide the graduate’s full name; school and its location; parent’s name and rank or retired rank, as applicable; and a point of contact phone number for questions.

Hire Vets Now Job Fair Set for May 19

All military veterans, those transitioning from the service and military spouses are invited to participate in the Hire Vets Now Virtual Career and Networking Fair set for May 19, 2-5 p.m., at hirevetsnow.easyvirtualfair.com.

Close to 40 commercial and government agencies will participate. Law enforcement, manufacturing, health care and financial services are just a few of the functional areas where eager job applicants are being sought. Registration is recommended at the career fair’s website.

Recovered COVID Patients Asked to Give Plasma

In coordination with the Food and Drug Administration, the American Red Cross is seeking blood plasma donations from people who are fully recovered from COVID-19.

According to the FDA, people who have successfully fought off the virus have antibodies in their plasma that could help others do the same.  Donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh 110 lbs. or more, be in good health and have a prior verified COVID-19 diagnosis.

Annual Water Line Flushing Underway

Virginia American Water Co. has begun the annual flushing of the Fort Lee water system. The work is scheduled to continue through July 1.

During this time, VAW will switch the post’s water disinfectant to free chlorine. The flushing process may cause discolored water or a stronger chlorine smell. People should not be alarmed if they experience these conditions. Simply run faucets until the color or odor dissipates.

AER Campaign Extended to June 15

The deadline for the 2020 Army Emergency Relief fundraising campaign has been extended through June 15.

AER assistance is available to Soldiers who need help covering the cost of food, rent, car repairs, funeral expenses, emergency medical care and more. Those eligible include single and married active duty (or Title 10 activated) Soldiers and their dependents, retirees and their dependents; and surviving spouses or orphans of Soldiers who died while on active duty or after they retired. Kenner Adjusts Schedule for Holiday Weekend

Kenner Army Health Clinic and Troop Medical Clinics 1 and 2 will be open with normal business hours on May 22 (training holiday) for patient care. All Kenner facilities and services will be closed in observance of Memorial Day on May 25.

To schedule appointments, call 1-866-533-5242. To request an authorization to visit an urgent care center, call the nurse advice line at 1-800-TRICARE and choose option 1. The Kenner COVID-19 hotline will be available at 1-866-533-5242. For medical emergencies, dial 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.

  

Resilience Directorate Releases R2 Guide

The Army Resilience Directorate has prepared the Resource and Activity Guide for units, Soldiers, families and individuals to help them during the COVID-19 crisis.

The guide provides information and resources to the Army community based on the five Dimensions of Strength – Physical, Emotional, Social, Spiritual and Family. The resources can be downloaded to train, operationalize and practically apply the resilience and performance skills the Army promotes.
