Route 36, between Temple Avenue and the Lee Gate at Fort Lee, will be closed for flyover bridge work beginning Jan. 26 (evening) through Feb. 1. The closure will be from 7 p.m. - 6 a.m., daily.

The detour is as follows:

Eastbound – The detour will begin on West Washington Street at Puddledock Road in Petersburg and will route traffic along Puddledock Road to Temple Avenue. It will then route traffic south on Temple Avenue back to Route 36 where they will return to Eastbound Route 36 at the Sisisky Gate.

Westbound – The detour will begin at the on ramp to Temple Avenue from Route 36 (Oaklawn Avenue). The ramp is located west of the corporate limits of Hopewell. The detour will route traffic on northbound Temple Avenue to Puddledock Road. It will then route the traffic westbound on Puddledock Road back to Route 36, Washington Street in Petersburg.

Both the Sisisky Gate and the Lee Gate will remain open as will access to Jackson Circle on Fort Lee.

Work activities are scheduled to take one week, but is dependent on weather. Rain or cold weather could extend the nighttime work longer than one week. Further notice will be made at such time for extension of the detours to continue uninterrupted bridge work.
