Three personnel from the Fort Lee Training Support Center attended certification training on the Humvee Egress Assistance Trainer, or HEAT, May 21-22 at Fort Bragg, N.C.
Due to the up-armored Humvees, used in theater of combat operations, increased weight and higher center of gravity there has been a significant increase in vehicle rollovers. The HEAT system was developed to train Soldiers in rollover prevention and to reduce or eliminate injuries and loss of life. The trainer allows simulated vehicle rollovers at any angle and trains on proper egress on land and in water. The HEAT system is scheduled to be fielded on post in July for deploying units to receive training.
