RSO Seeks Volunteers for Youth Ministry

The Fort Lee Religious Support Office is seeking youth ministry volunteers for its Dinner and Discipleship weekly program beginning Sept. 4, 5:30-7 p.m., at Memorial Chapel, building 10600.

The volunteers would serve as children’s teachers, teacher assistants and greeters for the Wednesday night gathering.

Exchange Warns Customers about Ongoing Scams

The Army and Air Force Exchange Service warns military shoppers about scammers offering to broker the sale of used cars, trucks, motorcycles, boats and more. The criminals are using the title “Exchange Inc.” to fool unsuspecting victims into thinking they are an actual DOD entity.

The Exchange operates solely on military installations and via ShopMyExchange.com. It never acts as a broker in private transactions and does not advertise in classified sections or resale websites.

Shoppers can file a complaint through the Internet Crime Complaint Center at www.ic3.gov

Kenner Plans Closures for Labor Day Weekend

Kenner Army Health Clinic and Troop Medical Clinic 1 will be open with normal business hours for patient care on the Aug. 30 military training holiday. Troop Medical Clinic 2 will be closed that day. All clinics and services will be closed in observance of Labor Day on Sept 2.

To schedule appointments, call 1-866-533-5242. To request an authorization to visit an urgent care center, call the nurse advice line at 1-800-TRICARE and choose option 1. For medical emergencies, dial 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.

SFL-TAP Schedules Pre-Retirement Seminar

A pre-retirement seminar for military members who are within 12-24 months of separation from service will be held Aug. 30, 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m., in the Soldier Support Center auditorium, building 3400, 1401 B Ave.

The free program will cover a variety of post-military-career topics. Spouses of separating military members are welcome. This is the last seminar for 2019.

Patriot’s Day Ceremony Set for Sept. 11

All Fort Lee community members are invited to the 9-11 Remembrance Ceremony, 8:45 a.m., at the First Logistical Command Memorial on the corner of Lee and A avenues.

Chaplain (Col.) Terry Romine, garrison chaplain, will open the brief program followed by remarks from Col. Hollie Martin, garrison commander. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be relocated to Memorial Chapel. Light refreshments will be available for guests after the ceremony.

Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2nd Brigade, 94th Division will sponsor a Suicide Awareness 5K Sept 14, 7:45 a.m. The event will start and end in the Kenner Army Health Clinic parking lot.

Registration Open for Homebuyer’s Course 

Registration is open for a free First Time Homebuyers Workshop set for Oct. 10, 8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m., at the Terence J. Hildner Training Support Center, building 1111, First Street.   

Participants will learn about personal finance, credit issues, qualifying and applying for a loan, how to receive a first-time homebuyer’s closing grant and more. The workshop is open to active duty military and spouses, reserve, National Guard, veterans, DOD Civilians and their spouses.
