Volunteers Needed for End-of-Year Bash

The Hopewell Office On Youth is in need of volunteers to assist with its End-of-School-Year Bash set for June 14, noon-5 p.m., at the Atwater Soccer Complex, 200 Atwater Road.

PX Program Benefits AER, AFAF

Army and Air Force Exchange Service shoppers have another chance to make at-the-register donations to Army Emergency Relief and the Air Force Assistance Fund June 14-18.

Contributors will receive a coupon for $5 off a $25 Exchange purchase for every $5 donated. The coupons can be redeemed in stores or online at ShopMyExchange.com. The donation periods of 2017 and 2018 garnered nearly $600,000 for the programs.


Overseas Briefings Conducted Every 3rd Wednesday

Military members and spouses with relocation orders for a Permanent Change of Station move overseas are invited to attend an Army Community Service Overseas Briefing held the third Wednesday of the month, 9 a.m., in the Soldier Support Center, room 125, building 3400, 1401 B Ave. The next two events are June 19 and July 17.

Topics include shipping pets, private vehicles and household goods; obtaining passports; available American Red Cross services; legal considerations and more. Children are welcome.

Kenner Pauses Services for Organization Day

Kenner Army Health Clinic, Troop Medical Clinic 1, Mosier Troop Medical Clinic and all ancillary services including the pharmacy will curtail operations June 21, noon, for organization day activities. All services will resume normal hours of operation June 24.

To request authorization to visit an urgent care center after-hours or when the clinic is closed, call the nurse advice line at 1-800-TRICARE and choose option 1. For an emergency, dial 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.

Summer Reading Program Signup Underway

Signup continues for the Fort Lee Community Library summer reading program. It is free and open to all ages.

To register, visit the library on the 2nd floor of the Army Logistics University, building 12420, 34th Street, across from the IHG lodging facility. All participants must log books, as well as the number of pages and minutes read between June 12 - Aug. 2. Only the books, pages and minutes read and recorded between those dates, and logged into the properly registered account, will count toward final awards.

The program ends Aug. 2. The preschool and school-aged summer reading program will conclude with an awards ceremony Aug. 7, 3-4 p.m. at the Lee Theater. For more information on other activities, call 804-765-8095.
