The Clear Creek I Commissary will be closed on Feb. 19 in observance of Washington's Birthday.

The store will be open regular business hours Feb. 20.


Clients need a current AKO login and password to complete the statutory ACAP pre-separation briefing and use ACAP computers.

Attention ACAP users effective immediately DA policy prohibits the use of privately-owned removable media such as thumb drives and personally owned floppy disks on ACAP computers.

Job Fair

A job fair will be held 10 a.m.-3 p.m., March 28, Killeen Conference Center on South W.S. Young.


Transition Orientation - The next scheduled briefing is at Palmer Theater, Feb. 20, from 7:30 a.m.- 11:30.

Pre-Separation Briefings are conducted at 8:30 a.m. or 10 a.m. daily, Monday through Friday. Briefings are located on the third floor of Copeland Center, ACAP office. All New: The two-day Transition Assistance Program workshops are offered every Tuesday-Wednesday or Thursday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. daily. These are a condensed version of the three-day workshop designed for the great numbers of returning Soldiers. Topics covered are negotiation, networking, interviewing, resumes, applications, etc.

The pre-separation briefing must be completed prior to scheduling a workshop appointment.

The workshops are presented free of charge to servicemembers and spouses every second and fourth Thursday at the ACAP Center.

RecruitMilitary, LLC, in cooperation with a unit of the United States Department of Labor, will host a career fair for veterans Feb. 22 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Eisemann Center in Richardson, Texas. Deployment assistance

Sesame Workshop has launched “Talk, Listen, Connect: Helping Families During Military Deployment.”

“Talk, Listen, Connect” is designed to help children between the ages of 3 and 5, whose parents are members of the U.S. Armed Services, National Guard and reserves, cope with the challenges experienced during various phases of deployment.

FHAMFMSF applications

Applications are being accepted through March 23 for the Fort Hood Area Military Family Member Scholarship Fund.

Dependent children and spouses of active duty military assigned to Fort Hood are eligible to receive the scholarships. Winners are selected by a committee headed by the III Corps Staff Judge Advocate.

Applications can be downloaded from the Fort Hood Officers’ Wives’ Club Web site at or the Fort Hood Education Services Division Web site at .mil/finaid.htm.

Applications are also available at high school guidance offices and on Fort Hood at the Lane Volunteer Center, Casey Memorial Library, the Fort Hood Thrift Shop, the Main Education Center, and the 1st Cavalry Division and 4th Infantry Division Soldier and Family Readiness Centers.

Fort Hood Women’s Conference March 1-2

The annual Fort Hood Women’s Conference, a two-day event dedicated to enriching the lives of the women who make Fort Hood “the great place,” is currently accepting registration forms. Scheduled to take place March 1 - 2 at the Comanche Chapel, the conference will host a variety of classes ranging from cooking and home decorating to self defense.

Embarq/AUSA corporate members announce

scholarship program

Area high school and college students may submit an application for the 2007 Embarq/AUSA Corporate Members (Central Texas/Ft. Hood Chapter Association of the United States Army) Scholarship Program.

The application deadline is noon, April 27.

Applications are available at area high school, college and university counselor's offices and the Fort Hood Educational Center.

Awards are based upon academic achievement, community involvement, personal goals, letters of recommendation and a personal essay.

Recipients must be eligible to attend a two- or four-year college or university and enrolled or accepted by the school before the scholarship will be awarded.

Active duty, retired Army and dependents are eligible to apply.
