Women’s Equality Day Run/Walk Rescheduled for Sept. 19
A Women’s Equality Day 5K Run/Walk has been rescheduled for Sept. 19, 5:40-7:30 a.m., with a start location at the U.S. Army Women’s Museum.
The guest speaker is Transportation Regimental Command Sgt. Maj. Cynthia B. Howard, the first female regimental CSM for one of CASCOM’s main elements. The entire community is invited.

KAHC Sidewalk Repairs Planned
The sidewalk in front of the All Clinics entrance extending to the rear emergency exit door at the Kenner Army Health Clinic Pediatric Clinic is scheduled for repair work starting the week of Sept. 22.
The work will be done in stages, allowing for continued access to the entrance.

Free Layaway at Exchange
The Army and Air Force Exchange Service has launched a free layaway program for purchases of $25 or more. The Exchange will waive the $3 service fee for items that are placed on layaway and paid for by Dec. 24. A deposit of 15 percent is required to hold items.

Mandatory Hunter Safety Briefing
All Fort Lee hunters are required to attend the mandatory Hunter Safety Briefing, Sept. 24, 5:30 p.m., in the pavilion adjacent to Outdoor Recreation, building 15014, 5th. Street.
Mandatory firearms qualifying will be available on Sept. 21 and Oct. 26, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., at the P.O.W. Range No. 8 located at Range Control, River Road. These dates are for hunter qualifying only.

Annual Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration
Fort Lee’s annual Hispanic Heritage Month celebration is set for Sept. 25, 11:30 a.m., at the Lee Theater.
The host is the 23rd Quartermaster Battalion . The doors will open at 11 a.m. and offer displays and artifacts for viewing. The event will include live music by the Salsaleando group from the 392nd Army Band as well as dance performances by the Latin Ballet of Virginia.
The guest speaker is retired Col. Victoria Revilla, a recipient of the Army’s “Latinas of Excellence” award in the Leadership category.
Shop Road Gate Closure, New Gate Hours
The Shop Road Gate will be closed through Oct. 26 for repaving and upgrades, and hours will be permanently adjusted at two other gates on Sept. 29.
The full gate schedule after Sept. 29 will be:
Lee Avenue: 5 a.m. - 8 p.m., Monday-Friday; closed weekends and federal holidays; • Mahone Avenue: 5 a.m. - 11 p.m., Monday-Friday; 7 a.m. - 11 p.m. weekends and federal holidays. • A Avenue: 5 a.m. - 8 p.m., Monday-Friday; closed weekends and federal holidays. • Shop Road: Closed until Oct. 27, then open 6 a.m. - 2 p.m., Monday-Friday; closed weekends and federal holidays (commercial vehicles only). • Sisisky Boulevard: Always open (main gate). • Jackson Circle: Always open to staff, residents and authorized guests. • Temple Avenue: 4:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. Monday-Friday for staff, residents and authorized guests; closed weekends and federal holidays.
The new hours bring gate operations in line with available resources and help ensure the safety and security of Fort Lee personnel, residents and visitors.

Final 2014 TARP Briefing Sept. 30
The final Threat Awareness and Reporting Program Briefing for 2014 is set for Sept. 30, 9 a.m., at the Lee Theater or 1 p.m. at Dickerson Auditorium, building 12500, Army Logistics University.
This training is a mandatory annual requirement for all military personnel and DOD Civilian employees.
