FLASC Super Signup Set for Sept. 6
The Fort Lee Area Spouses’ Club will hold a Super Sign-Up event Sept. 6, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., in Memorial Chapel, Sisisky Boulevard.
The event will include prize raffles, shopping booths, travel and family support information tables, free refreshments and more. All spouses of service members – active, reserve, retired or deceased – as well as children, government civilians and contractors are welcome at the family friendly event.
Post to Conduct 9/11 Commemoration
All Fort Lee community members are invited to the 9-11 Remembrance Ceremony, 8:45 a.m., at the First Logistical Command Memorial on the corner of Lee and A avenues.
Chaplain (Col.) Terry Romine, garrison chaplain, will open the brief program followed by remarks from Col. Hollie Martin, garrison commander. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be relocated to Memorial Chapel. Light refreshments will be available for guests after the ceremony.

Northam to Speak at Patriot’s Day Observance
Governor Ralph Northam will deliver the keynote address during the Commonwealth of Virginia’s Patriot Day Ceremony Sept. 11, 6 p.m. at the Virginia War Memorial, 621 S. Belvidere St., Richmond.
The event is free and the public is encouraged to attend. It will be held rain or shine. A 380th Army Band ensemble will play a medley of patriotic music prior to the ceremony. The VWM will be open extended hours from 9 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. that day.
Ticket Deadline Sept. 12 for Retiree Ball
Tickets will be available for the 5th annual Military Retiree Appreciation Ball until Sept. 12. The event is set for Sept. 28, 5 p.m., at the Lee Club. Retirees from all five service branches and their spouses are welcome.
John Hall, deputy to the CASCOM commanding general, is the scheduled guest speaker. The cost for single admission is $35 and $70 for couples.

Suicide Awareness Run Set for Sept. 14
Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2nd Brigade, 94th Division will sponsor a Suicide Awareness 5K Sept 14, 7:45 a.m. The event will start and end in the Kenner Army Health Clinic parking lot.
Exchange Contest Features $2K Scholarship Prizes
Ten military students in sixth - 12th grades have a chance to win a $2,000 scholarship through the Army and Air Force Exchange Service Rewards of Caring Essay Contest, co-sponsored by Unilever, through Sept. 26
To enter, students with a 2.5 or higher grade-point average should submit an essay of 500 words or less explaining their involvement in volunteer service projects and why their community is important to them. Entries must be mailed with a postmark no later than Sept. 26. The essays should be sent to AAFES Rewards of Caring Scholarship 2019 Fall Contest, P.O. Box 7778, Melville, NY 11775-7778.

Registration Underway for GI Jane Challenge
Registration is open for the G.I. Jane Challenge set for Sept. 28, 8 a.m. - 2 p.m., at Outdoor Recreation, building 15014, 5th Street.
This one-day outdoor event for women will feature three activities – skeet shooting, mountain biking and rock wall climbing. Each activity costs $25 or $65 for all three. Registration is required by Sept. 27.

The International Military Student Office at the Army Logistics University is always looking for community members, on- and off-post, to serve as social sponsors for international students who attend classes at Fort Lee.
