With a little help from a friend, Total Nonstop Action Heavyweight Champion Kurt Angle retained his title against Christian Cage in the Jan. 6 Final Resolution pay-per-view main event. AJ Styles came down to ringside toward the end of the match, convinced Cage he was on his side, then turned on him allowing Angle to gain the victory.

In other Final Resolution pay-per-view results: The Latin American Xchange defeated Lance Hoyt and Jimmy Rave; Kaz defeated Black Reign; Gail Kim retained the Women’s Championship over Awesome Kong in a standout match of the night; Judas Mesias defeated Abyss; Booker T and Sharmell defeated Robert Roode and Ms. Brooks during which Roode inadvertently “knocked out” Booker T’s wife; Team 3D and Johnny Devine defeated The Motor City Machineguns and “Black Machismo” Jay Lethal in the Ultimate X Match and AJ Styles and Tomko defeated Samoa Joe and Kevin Nash to retain the TNA World Tag Team Titles.

World Wrestling Entertainment’s annual Royal Rumble pay-per-view, set for Jan. 27 from New York’s Madison Square Garden, will feature Edge defending his Heavyweight Championship against Rey Mysterio, WWE Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton defending against Jeff Hardy and the 30-man, over-the-top-rope, Rumble itself where the winner earns a world title shot at WrestleMania.
