Sunday afternoon at the MacLaughlin Fitness Center found the Travellers Men’s Basketball team taking down the visiting Quantico team, 71-57.
Ranked third overall in the Washington Area Military Athletic Conference, the win improves Fort Lee’s record to 8-4 in the league.
The Travellers opened the game with a 7-0 run, before the Marine Corps team tied midway in the first half, 22-22. Fort Lee’s Kevin McKoy sank two treys and a pair of baskets to lead the Travellers to a 35-27 halftime score. McKoy contributed a team-high 17 points while the Travellers led by as much as 28 points in the win.
Aaron Barfield added 11 points for the Travellers, while Donald Serate and Dennis Calloway both scored 9. Erick Patrick posted 8 points and Wesley Riley recorded 5 points. Robert Jones, Damien Anglin and Domonic Williams each had 4 points in the win.
Quantico’s Peter Jackson earned game-high honors with 19 points.
