The Fort Lee Travellers will have to wait a couple weeks until the championship playoffs to keep their winning streak intact. The men’s basketball team has posted four consecutive wins to close the Washington Area Military Athletic Conference regular season.

The team traveled Saturday to face Anacostia for an 80-73 win.

The Travellers ended their season Sunday with a 88-52 win over the Joint Forces team. After a 29-20 first half, the Travellers continued to build an insurmountable lead over the visiting team. With the 30-plus point deficit, the Joint Forces defense crumbled, allowing the Travellers to put on an impromptu slam-dunk exhibition to end the season on a high note.

Coach Derrick Grant looks to keep the momentum going into the postseason, as the Travellers ended their year in WAMAC with a third place finish, 10-4, behind Fort Meade (14-1) and Fort Belvoir (11-2).

“We finished the season strong, which was a tremendous boost in our confidence and proved that hard work pays off,” said Grant.

For the Travellers, Dominic Williams earned a game-high of 20 points and Wesley Riley scored 15. Also recording double digits were Erick Patrick and Donald Serate with 10 apiece. Robert Jones and Raymond Broughton both recorded nine points in the win.
